Creating systems that respond promptly to human cues is a daunting task that requires international and cross-field collaboration. On October 5-6th, IIIM Director Dr. Kristinn R. Thórisson will feature as the keynote speaker of a workshop in Hamburg, Germany. In Dr. Thórisson’s two decades of experience in industry and academia, he has pioneered new ideas in the area of communicative, multimodal intelligent agents and developed a cognitive architecture for the humanoid robot ASIMO.
The Architectures for Conversationally Competent Spoken Dialogue Systems (ACCSDS) workshop gathers promising young researchers to discuss the needs, prospects, and plans for future architectures for SDSs that help to improve turn-taking behavior, alignment and rapport, multi-modality including para-linguistic signals, amicability, long-term relation building, and others.
