Kurzweil Award Goes to IIIM Director and Colleagues for Second Consecutive Year

IIIM Managing Director Kristinn R. Thorisson and his collaborators Bas R. Steunebrink, Jan Koutník, Eric Nivel, and Jurgen Schmidhuber received the prestigious 2013 Kurzweil Award for the second year in a row. Their research in the field of artificial general intelligence was part of a three-year research project called HUMANOBS which was completed in June 2012 and sponsored by Reykjavik University and the 7th European Community Framework Programme.

AGI Summer School Headed to Beijing in 2013

image001-AGI-2013AGI’s summer school entered its fourth year, enticing fifty students to Beijing, China for an intensive two weeks of instruction. Hosted by some of the most innovative researchers in the field of AGI including Dr. Pei Wang, Dr. Kristinn R. Thorisson, and Ben Goertzel, AGI’s summer school not only focused on building a theoretical groundwork for interested students but emphasized how to apply these ideas to issues in the field. There was no cost to attend the program and a wide range of students traveled from many different countries for the chance to become the future of AGI.
